Gorilla Trekking Experience in Volcanoes National Park

Early morning, enjoy a cup of coffee before preparing for the gorilla trekking briefing at the park headquarters. Following the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. Once you locate a gorilla family, you will have the privilege of spending one unforgettable hour observing their behavior in their natural habitat and taking photographs. The trekking experience may last from half a day to a full day, depending on the gorillas' movements. A reasonable level of fitness is required, and we recommend wearing sturdy walking shoes and bringing a packed lunch, drinking water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a hat. In the afternoon, after the trek and lunch, you may choose to relax at the lodge or visit a nearby community village to experience local traditions. Discover the wisdom of traditional healers, learn the art of mat weaving, enjoy vibrant cultural dances, and see how banana beer and traditional foods are prepared—dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer Back to Kigali for Departure

Today, after your early morning breakfast, at 6:30 am, you will be transferred to the park’s headquarters with your packed lunch at the Office of Tourism in Kinigi, where you are briefed by the ranger about the rules and regulations governing golden monkey tracking before you head off to the jungle in search of these shy, lovely primates. The golden monkey trek can last from an hour to six hours, just like gorilla trekking, however not as hectic as gorilla trekking. Though the trek is strenuous but much more rewarding at the end. You will have one hour with the golden monkeys, allowing you to capture as many photos as you wish. After the trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch. Later in the day, you will be transferred back to Kigali. If time permits, you may explore the vibrant streets and shop for unique souvenirs.
