This 11-day Rwanda Primate Wildlife tour will give you a great memory of your Rwandan tour, and you will explore and wrap up Rwandan attractions in just 11 days. You will be able to visit Nyungwe National Park for chimpanzee and Canopy walk, Lake Kivu, Volcanoes National Park for Gorilla trekking and Golden monkey trek, and end at Akagera National Park for Big Five safaris, also with Kigali city known as the cleanest city in Africa, adding in a visit to Lake Kivu to spice up your stay. You will be able to do both gorilla and golden monkey trekking, which is a lifetime adventure.

1Day 1
Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Hotel
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will proceed through customs and immigration before meeting our company guide, who will warmly welcome you to the "Land of a Thousand Hills," as Rwanda is known. You will then be escorted to your booked hotel for a briefing on your upcoming 10 Days Rwanda Primate and Wildlife Safari, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

2Day 2
Transfer to Akagera National Park.
Today, after your early breakfast, you will be picked up by your safari guide and depart for Akagera National Park at 8:00 am. The journey to the park takes approximately 2.5 hours, depending on stopovers along the way. As you travel through Rwanda’s stunning, winding landscapes, feel free to ask the guide to stop for photography. Upon arrival at the park, you will enjoy a short game drive before proceeding to your accommodation for check-in. After settling in, you will have lunch before heading out for a boat trip on Lake Ihema. During the boat ride, you will observe hippos and crocodiles in the water or along the shores, as well as buffaloes and elephants wallowing by the water banks. Later in the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

3Day 3
Full Day Game Drive and Night Game Drive.
After your morning breakfast at the lodge, you will head out for a full day game drive, continuing your search for wildlife across the park. You may take different routes to increase your chances of varied animal sightings while exploring this beautiful landscape. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed during the course of the day. Later in the evening, you will embark on a night game drive, offering the opportunity to spot nocturnal wildlife species that are active after dark. Following this experience, you will be transferred back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

4Day 4
Transfer from Akagera NP to Southern Province
Early in the morning, you will embark on your final game drive in Akagera National Park, making the most of your last opportunity to spot the park’s remarkable wildlife and diverse bird species. After this rewarding experience, you will return to the lodge at 10:00 am for breakfast. Following breakfast, you will begin your journey to the Southern Province. Upon arrival, you will proceed to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay, ensuring a smooth and relaxing conclusion to the day’s program.

Transfer to Nyungwe National Park with En-route Museum Visit.
After breakfast at the accommodation, you will embark on a scenic drive toward Rwanda’s Western Province, with a cultural stop in the Southern Province to explore the Royal Palace Museum. This visit offers fascinating insights into Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage, traditional lifestyles, and the legacy of its monarchy. Enjoy lunch en route before continuing the journey to Nyungwe National Park. Upon arrival in the late afternoon, you will check in to your lodge and spend the remainder of the day at your leisure, surrounded by the serene and lush beauty of the park’s natural environment.

6Day 6
Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk
Today, after enjoying an early morning cup of African coffee, you will depart from your hotel for an exciting adventure in the lush rainforest of Nyungwe, well known for having 13 species of primates, and transferred to the park for briefing and chimpanzee trekking. You will be entitled to one hour on finding the chimpanzees. After doing the chimpanzee trek, head for lunch before heading for a canopy walk. This 90 meters suspended metallic bridge will give you a great overview of Nyungwe forest and on a luck day spot one or two more primates in the forest as you take a walk on this bridge and later return in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

Tea Tour & Transfer to Lake Kivu for Boat Trip and Relaxation

Today, after your relaxed morning breakfast, you will check out from the lodge and begin the scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival, you will visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, where you will gain valuable insight into conservation initiatives, scientific research, and ongoing efforts dedicated to protecting and habituating mountain gorillas. After this enriching experience, you will proceed to your hotel. The remainder of the afternoon will be at your leisure, an ideal time to relax and prepare for the following day’s thrilling gorilla trekking adventure.

Gorilla Trekking Experience in Volcanoes National Park
Early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for the gorilla trekking briefing from the park headquarters and thereafter, you will be briefed before you enter the jungle to search the shy mountain gorillas and enjoy their lifestyle in their real home. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour watching their social life as you take pictures. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and hut. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or a whole day depending on the movements of these primates. After your unforgettable gorilla trekking experience, you will return to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, you may choose to unwind and relax at the lodge or opt for a visit to a nearby community village, where you will immerse yourself in local traditions. Experience the wisdom of traditional healers, learn the art of mat weaving, enjoy vibrant cultural dances, and discover how banana beer and traditional foods are prepared. In the evening, enjoy dinner and settle in for an overnight stay.

Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer Back to Kigali
Today, after an early morning breakfast, your safari driver-guide will pick you up and transfer you to the park headquarters for a comprehensive briefing. You will then begin your golden monkey trekking experience, venturing into the forest in search of these playful and shy primates. This activity follows a structure similar to gorilla trekking but is generally less strenuous, offering an enjoyable and engaging wildlife encounter. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a refreshing shower. Once ready, you will proceed with the transfer back to Kigali.

Kigali City Tour and Departure
After breakfast, you will enjoy a Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the vibrant Kimironko Market, and other notable suburbs of the city. Following the tour, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
