Your Itinerary

1Day 1

Transfer from the Airport

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will proceed through customs and immigration before meeting our company guide, who will warmly welcome you to the "Land of a Thousand Hills," as Rwanda is known. You will then be escorted to your booked hotel for a briefing on your upcoming 10 Days Rwanda Primate Wildlife, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

2Day 2

Transfer to Akagera National Park

Today, after your early breakfast, you will be picked up by your safari guide and depart for Akagera National Park at 8:00 am. The journey to the park takes approximately 2.5 hours, depending on stopovers along the way. As you travel through Rwanda’s stunning, winding landscapes, feel free to ask the guide to stop for photography. Upon arrival at the park, you will enjoy a short game drive before proceeding to your accommodation for check-in. After settling in, you will have lunch before heading out for a boat trip on Lake Ihema. During the boat ride, you will observe hippos and crocodiles in the water or along the shores, as well as buffaloes and elephants wallowing by the water banks. Later in the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

3Day 3

Full-Day Game Drive and Night Game Drive

After an early morning breakfast at 6:00 am depart for your early morning game drive in the National Park to catch up with late hunters and early risers in the animal kingdom of Akagera. The Park offers numerous wildlife, giving you the opportunity to see Rhino, Elephants, Giraffes, buffalo, several Antelope species, lions, and other animals. The park is a varied habitat for wildlife and over 500 bird species, making it a birding paradise. With a picnic lunch inside the park, return to the Lodge for refreshments, dinner, and overnight stay.

4Day 4

Transfer to Kigali for the Kigali City Tour

In the morning, after breakfast, you will begin the comfortable drive back to Kigali. Upon arrival in the capital, your guide will lead you on an insightful visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building. You will be able to watch and listen to some video clips from some of the survivors, followed by a stop at the vibrant Kimironko Market for an authentic local experience and an opportunity to shop for quality souvenirs. After the tour, you will proceed to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay, ensuring a smooth and relaxed end to the day’s program.

5Day 5

Transfer to  Nyungwe National Park with en route Museum Visit

After breakfast at the lodge, you will embark on the transfer back to Nyungwe. En route, you will stop at the King’s Palace Museum, where you will gain meaningful insights into Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage and traditional royal history. Following this visit, enjoy lunch along the way before continuing the journey toward Nyungwe National Park. You will arrive at your hotel in the afternoon, giving you ample time to relax and unwind as you await dinner and your overnight stay.

6Day 6

Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk

Today, after enjoying an early morning cup of African coffee, you will depart from your hotel for an exciting adventure in the lush rainforest of Nyungwe, well known for having 13 species of primates, and transferred to the park for briefing and chimpanzee trekking. You will be entitled to one hour on finding the chimpanzees. After doing the chimpanzee trek, head for lunch before heading for a canopy walk. This 90 meters suspended metallic bridge will give you a great overview of Nyungwe forest and on a luck day spot one or two more primates in the forest as you take a walk on this bridge and later return in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

7Day 7

Tea Tour and Transfer to Lake Kivu for a boat trip and Relaxation

After enjoying your morning breakfast, proceed to the Gisakura Tea Plantation for an engaging and informative experience, where you will learn about the tea-growing process, traditional harvesting methods, and local production techniques. Following this visit, you will continue your journey to Lake Kivu. Transfer to Volcanoes N.P. with afternoon Ellen DeGeneres Campus visit

Today, after your relaxed morning breakfast, you will check out from the lodge and begin the scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival, you will visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, where you will gain valuable insight into the conservation initiatives, scientific research, and ongoing efforts dedicated to protecting and habituating the mountain gorillas. After this enriching experience, you will proceed to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon will be at your leisure an ideal time to relax and prepare for the following day’s thrilling gorilla trekking.

9Day 9

Gorilla Trekking Experience in Volcanoes National Park and Visit Culture Village

Early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for the gorilla trekking briefing from the park headquarters, and thereafter, you will be briefed before you enter the jungle to search the shy mountain gorillas and enjoy their lifestyle in their real home. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour watching their social life as you take pictures. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and hut. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or a whole day depending on the movements of these primates. After your unforgettable gorilla trekking experience, you will return to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, you may choose to unwind and relax at the lodge or opt for a visit to a nearby community village, where you will immerse yourself in local traditions. Experience the wisdom of traditional healers, learn the art of mat weaving, enjoy vibrant cultural dances, and discover how banana beer and traditional foods are prepared. In the evening, enjoy dinner and settle in for an overnight stay.

Golden Monkey Trekking and transfer back to Kigali for departure

Today, after your warm early morning breakfast, our safari driver-guide will pick you up and transfer you to the park headquarters for a comprehensive briefing. You will then begin your golden monkey trekking experience, venturing into the forest in search of these playful and shy primates. The activity follows a similar structure to gorilla trekking, though it is generally less strenuous, offering an enjoyable and engaging wildlife encounter. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a refreshing shower. Once ready, you will proceed with the transfer back to the airport to check in for your departure flight, marking the conclusion of your memorable adventure.
